FLASHBACK FRIDAY!! Quite appropriate to have an alum comeback to address students during Homecoming Week! Heather Donnelly, a 2003 Fairfield graduate is currently living in Los Angles and making a living as a female rapper! Heather spoke to our students about her days living and going to school in Fairfield to where she is today. She emphasized soul searching, stepping out of the box, and dreaming big! She stressed to students that being true to who you are is a person is imperative as they travel through life. She likened her experience and her dream to the Jamaica having a bobsled team! Could Jamaica have a bobsled team? Were they told no? Were they told it was impossible? Well I guess they could have one and it wasnt impossible. The same way her dream was too big, but it wasnt too big for Heather! Heather talked about all of her jobs: waitress, construction worker, model, caterer, flag waver in race car pits, etc. She also lived in her car twice for 11 months. However, she was no bum or homeless person. She was very reflective on her experience and it all became a part of the big plan in order to make her dream a reality. Heather discussed rejection and how rejection gets old, but each time it made her stronger. She also had to learn to say no in order to maintain her vision and her morals. Heather or Sinderella (stage name) spoke to the students how her experiences in Fairfield unknowingly assisted with her current calling of being a rapper! Poetry from Mrs. Patterson and art from Mrs. Eller as well as conflicts and navigating through them. She went to LA to become an actor and her experiences in this area gave her the confidence and background to ultimately realize her calling as a rapper. Thank you for your time Heather and we appreciate your willingness to tell us your journey even though it is far from over. Good luck!
