FLOOD WATCH for the North West Pastoral district north of Coober Pedy and the far northwest of North East Pastoral including Oodnadatta. Issued at 3:38 pm CDT on Monday 5 January 2015 By the Bureau of Meteorology, South Australia. This Flood Watch is a heads up for possible future flooding and is NOT a Flood Warning. Weather Situation: A tropical low near the northwest coast of Western Australia combined with an upper trough developing over the east of Western Australia is likely to extend a significant rain band into the northwest of South Australia. Rainfall : Heavy rain and thunderstorms during Thursday, Friday and Saturday may produce falls of 100-200 mm. The area most likely to be affected is the North West Pastoral district north of about Coober Pedy and the adjacent northwestern parts of the North East Pastoral district. Flood Risk : The forecast heavy rain may lead to significant widespread flooding. People in the area should monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be prepared should flooding develop. Travellers need to be aware that road conditions may be adversely affected and travel plans may need to be reconsidered. Some communities may become isolated.
