FLORIDA ELECTIONS ARE OFTEN CLOSE—BUT ARE THEY RIGGED? We have had Republican governors for the past 20 years, despite the fact that Democrats and independents outnumber Republicans by nearly 2 to 1 in Florida. Last time Scott won by about 1% of the votes cast—and 23.2% of registered voters put him in office. Sure, Scott spent more money than Sink—but money doesn’t win elections, votes do—and about 15% of Republicans voted for Sink! There have been reports in other states of rigging electronic voting machines. In Florida, paper ballots are counted by machines. Interestingly, before leaving office former Republican governor Jeb Bush signed an executive order saying that paper ballots counted by machine can only be recounted by machine.
