FOGSDAY - The period between Christmas and New Years is such a wasteland of random time and unrecognizable days. They all pretty much look and feel alike. Its very hard to distinguish between yesterday and today. And tomorrow promises to be much the same. Its not Friday or Saturday, or Monday or Tuesday. Its this nondescript string of unknown days that only occurs this time of year. What day it is, you dont know, and what time it is, you dont care, as your life is defined by the moments between the last piece of candy you inhaled and the next cookie youll shove into your pie hole. Lets just call it Fogsday. And you dont particularly like it, but you dont particularly dislike it either. Because at this point in the holiday program your emotions have flatlined to the point that there is no happiness or sadness, no ups or downs. Just a contented coma as you aimlessly wander from cookie tray to cookie tray wondering when the next meal is. Wait, didnt we just eat? Perhaps, but does it really matter? It is, after all, Fogsday. And tomorrow? Fogsday also. And yesterday? If memory serves, that too was Fogsday. And the soundtrack to all of this is the stale Christmas music that has become a constant drone of familiarity as the notes and melodies all run together into a fuzzy blur. It doesnt matter though, because it doesnt matter. That last sentence only makes sense on Fogsday. So just enjoy it. Youve got nowhere to go and nothing to do. Thats the beauty of Fogsday. Its familiar and comfortable and stress-free. And blah, blah, blah. So just breathe it in and have another cookie. Happy Fogsday.
