FOLLOWING the completion of the Austrian Darts Open, the focus now turns to the Gibraltar Darts Trophy, which will be held at the Victoria Stadium from June 27-29. Successive weekends of European Tour events will conclude as 48 players compete for £100,000 in prize money in the second Gibraltar Darts Trophy, which was won in 2013 by Phil Taylor. Taylor will be amongst the field for this years event, and will enter in Saturdays second round alongside the other 16 seeded stars, with Michael van Gerwen expected to return to action after missing the Austrian Darts Open with an ankle injury. Play begins on Friday, with the 16 first round games being held in one bumper session from 3pm at the Victoria Stadium as the 32 qualifiers face off - with the 20 UK Qualifiers set to be joined by four Host Nation Qualifiers and eight European Qualifiers. The second round sees the top 16 seeds enter against the 16 first round winners on Saturday, with play across two sessions, before the tournament concludes on Sunday, with the third round in the afternoon session and the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final in the evening session. Fans attending the event on Saturday and Sunday will also be able to watch World Cup football games on the big screens inside the Victoria Stadium arena following the completion of the evening session matches. The draw for the Gibraltar Darts Trophy will be made on Thursday June 26 ahead of the European Qualifier and Host Nation Qualifier at the Victoria Stadium.
