FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Carried on His Heart Read Exodus 28:1 and 29:46 Lilly loved the locket she received for Christmas. There her children placed the family photo they had made seven years ago on the last family vacation before the oldest child moved out on his own. The photo reminded her of the precious times she and her husband, Tom, had as the children were growing up. Having this photo next to her heart reminded her of something she read in the book of Exodus. “Whenever Aaron enters the Holy Place, he will bear the names of the sons of Israel over his heart on the breastpiece of decision as a continuing memorial before the Lord” (Exodus 28:29). Aaron carried the name of the sons of Israel so he would remember the people he represented before God. Though he could not carry the names of every person in the nation, he could carry the names of the twelve tribes that represented them. Knowing the people he represented helped him carry out his responsibilities. We too need to consider those whom God has placed in our lives. We need to keep them in our hearts daily. Thought for Today: Remember those God has placed on your heart.
