FOOD FOR THOUGHT Q1: Are you born by a Father and a Mother? (Definitely YES) Q2: Are you brought up under their care? (Hmm, Yes/No) Q3: Seeing them alone makes you feel SAFE? (Hmm, YAP!) Q4: Do you really love your Parents? (Hmm, YES/no) Q5: Do you think they also love You? (I can’t really... YES, they should!) Q6: How eager would you want them to PROTECT YOU from an unwanted condition? Q7: Are they also ready to do so? (Though... but they should be) HAVE YOU EVER ENVISAGED THE SCENARIO BELOW: B’oba di ni Qiyamah Oluwami, B’odi ni Qiyamah Oluwami, T’ọba Al-Jabbaru yoo ṣọla, Tio ṣọla Ẹ lori ẹda, Tio ṣọla Ẹ boti fẹ ooo, Tio ṣọla Ẹ lori ẹda, Iya o mọọ rọmọ sa, Baba o mọọ rọmọ sa, Ọmọ o mọọ ri’wọn sa, Bi wọn bawa f’oju kanra wọn, Ọmọ o mọọ pe ooo, Iyaa mi ooo, Iiyaa mi, Babaa mii ooo, Baaba mii, Ẹkẹ mi pupọ ni’le aye, Ẹgẹ mi pupọ ni’le ofo, Ẹpawọpọ kẹmi o lọjọ oni ooo, Iyaa mi ooo, Iiyaa mi, Babaa mii ooo, Baaba mii, Iya o mọọ fọmọ lesi pe, Baba o mọọ fọmọ lesi pe, ọmọọ mii, ọmọọ mii, Akẹọ pupọ ni’le aye o ni’ṣoro, oni’ṣoro ooo, T’emi to mi lẹru mọdi kun, T’emi to mi lẹru mọdi kun. T’emi to mi lẹru mọdi kun, T’emi to mi lẹru mọdi kun. The above Yoruba poem reflects the Tafseer of Q80:34 - 37 Thereafter, the child would be wondering about the blunt response of the parents, and if they (the parents) notice this they say to the (used to be) beloved child: K’ajọ r’alujanah la n ja sio, K’ajọ r’alujanah la n ja sio, Ao ni’ja tẹẹle tẹlẹ rio, K’ajọ r’alujanah la n ja sio. SUCH IS HEREAFTER! SO, IF YOUR BELOVED PARENTS AND ALLIES CANNOT SAVE YOU FROM THE DAY’S PUNISHMENT, THEN, WHY NOT LOVE MOST (THE LORD WHO CAN SAVE YOU (ALLAH SWT).
