FOR ARREARS RELATED TO NEW LA MASIA Barça hit with €160,000 lawsuit by construction firm The MCM Group has filed another lawsuit against FC Barcelona at a local court, according to Spanish news agency Efe. On this occasion, the claim relates to alleged arrears totalling €160,403 (plus interest) for the construction of the new La Masia. The first lawsuit, which seeks damages of up to €100 million for breach of contract, was lodged several months ago and will be heard in court on 3rd July. It concerns an agreement signed between MCM and the club to pursue advertising on the façades of the new La Masia, the revenue from which was supposed to be split equally between the Azulgranas and the firm. Barça is very much on edge over this initial suit, owing to the convincing evidence the plaintiff has submitted: namely, correspondence between the clubs Chief Marketing Officer, Laurent Colette, and MCM. The messages contained therein clearly instruct the company as to the strategy to follow for the advertising in question. One of these messages, to which Efe has had access, includes the heading Commercialisation of La Masia façade and outlines the next steps to be taken in this joint venture.
