FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Amanda Niemann July 3, 2013 913-370-0531 Free Screening of “Honor Flight” the Movie July 15 July 3, 2013 The movie, “Honor Flight – One Last Mission”, will be shown on Monday, July 15th at 7:00 p.m. in O’Malley-McAllister Auditorium on the Benedictine College Campus. This feature length documentary tells the story of four living World War II veterans, who through the efforts of a Midwest town, receive the trip of a lifetime to Washington DC to see the World War II Memorial constructed in their honor. After viewing the film, all veterans in attendance will be recognized and honored. Attendees will also have the chance to learn more about the Honor Flight Network, a non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to get these veterans to Washington DC before it is too late. These veterans are in their late 80’s and 90’s and this may be the first time they have really been thanked for their service and taken on a trip where the complete focus is on their service to our country. A free will donation will be taken to help this cause and you will also have the opportunity to learn how you as a community member can participate. Over 100,000 veterans have had this honor and time is critical to ensuring that more will also be able to make the trip. “1,000 World War II veterans pass away every day, so the ability of this organization to get the heroes to their memorial before it is too late is dependent on community support and awareness,” said Amanda Niemann, one of the organizers of the screening. “After watching this film, I hope many veterans and community members will want to become involved in this project to help honor our nation’s greatest generation and their sacrifice for each of us.” The movie is being sponsored by the Atchison Rotary Club, with assistance from the American Legion Post No. 6 and the Atchison Kiwanis Club.
