Thomas, head of New Canaan Land MBC, 5957 S. Peoria, whose motto is ”Rebuilding the Connection Between Wisdom and Youth,” is holding a sixth annual Englewood “Battle of the Block Peace Basketball Tournament, August 5-10th. From August 5th to 6h, the tournament will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. From August 7th through August 9th, the tournament will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, August 10th Pastor Thomas is holding the championship game, which begins at 5 p.m. “I am trying to prevent crime in the Englewood community. I can’t stop it all but the 16 blocks I am working with crime has reduced,” said Pastor Thomas referring to West Englewood from Normal to Western and from 56th to 64th. Explaining, Thomas said he is working with black and Mexican gangs in an effort to achieve peace in the community. All are welcome to attend this event.
