About MicroLoan Foundation USA The MicroLoan Foundation (MLF) is an international development organization that reduces poverty and inequality by providing microfinance services to impoverished women living in remote rural areas in sub-Saharan African countries. MicroLoan does this by providing small loans, specialized business training and ongoing personal mentoring support enabling women to start their own small businesses. MicroLoan also facilitates savings and financial planning so women can work their own way out of poverty for the long-term. The organization provides a hand-up not a hand-out in a self-sustainable way. MicroLoan helps women only. Since 2002 it has helped over 170,000 women start small sustainable businesses and had a positive impact on over 850,000 dependents. We work throughout Malawi and Eastern Zambia. MLF facilitates independence rather than dependency, providing women with the opportunities to flourish and capitalize on their own entrepreneurial ambitions. The MicroLoan Foundation USA is part of the larger MicroLoan family. We have offices in the UK and Australia, as well as headquarters in Malawi and Zambia. We employ more than 170 local people in Africa, who work throughout our 26 branch offices helping more than 30,000 marginalized women each year.
