Tom Wanless, 517-335-3410 or Ed Golder, 517-335-3014 DNR offers trapper education field days in Dowagiac, Frankenmuth and Troy The Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) Hunter Education Program will offer three trapper education field days in southern Michigan on Dec. 7-8. The field days are for trapper education students who have completed the online or home-study course, and are required to receive a Michigan Trapper Education Safety Certificate. On Saturday, Dec. 7, the DNR, along with the Lloyd A. Stage Nature Center, will host a trapper education field day from noon to 5 p.m. at the nature center, located at 6685 Coolidge Hwy. in Troy. Also on Dec. 7, the DNR, along with the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, will host a field day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pokagon Campground, located at 58620 Sink Road, in Dowagiac. On Sunday, Dec. 8, the DNR, along with Frankenmuth Conservation Club, will host a field day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the club, located at 8415 E. Curtis Road, in Frankenmuth. There is no cost for any of the classes. In order to attend one of the field days, students must pre-register with Sgt. Tom Wanless at 517-335-3410. Students taking the online option must present their certificate of completion on the day of the field day. Students who wish to take the home-study option must receive their manual a minimum of one week prior to the field day. For more information, contact Sgt. Wanless.
