FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 7, 2014 Rutland Department of Public Works statement regarding American Water Resources of Vermont solicitation: Rutland, VT –Some Rutland water and sewer customers have received a mailed solicitation from “American Water Resources of Vermont” offering to sell “water and sewer line protection services.” The mailing is made to look like an official document and states that it is a “second notice” even though no “first notice” appears to have been issued. An image of the solicitation is shown below. The City of Rutland Department of Public Works is not responsible for this mailing, and in no way endorses this solicitation or American Water Resources of Vermont, the company responsible for it. The Department strongly advises anyone who receives such a notice to fully investigate the company and their products before responding. Furthermore, it is the opinion of the Department that the price of water and sewer line protection program is exceedingly high given the magnitude of the risk faced by most property owners.
