FOR THE INFORMATION AND ATTENTION OF ALL EXPLORER SCOUT LEADERS AND INTERESTED PARTIES Unfortunately I still do not have all the details and contacts I require despite emailing people several times. If you have yet to send me details of those Leaders with responsibility for Explorers in your Group please do so ASAP. I do NOT want people missing out. If, as a leader of any section, you have an interest in any of the activities that are of a level the Explorers would enjoy and would be happy to join in on occasion then please let me know. Don’t forget it’s meant to be fun for us too! An update on Strathcalder District Explorer Scouts: We have our own Facebook page, please direct all interested parties to it, that includes Explorers themselves (As long as I get the funding) There will be a District Explorer Scout Forum in February at which ALL of our District Explorers will be invited and will hopefully take part. It is designed to give them the chance to plan a DISTRICT Explorer Scout programme which will be ancilliary to anything they are doing at Group level. The idea will be to have them along on a day with a Leader from their group which will thereafter be followed that day by all the Explorer Leaders and interested parties getting together to plan the implementation of the programme the Explorers have come up with (and an overnight social get together for Leaders at the same time!) I am also looking at (funding permitted) a Forum for older Scouts and new Explorer Scouts to look at ways of making the transition between Scouts and Explorers easier and more appealing. We are also currently looking at a District Explorer Scout identity with a new neckie. There will hopefully also be a regional YL Training programme with a weekend for all in January. More info when I get it. I’ll keep everyone updated as I go and intend to visit each group in the coming weeks and meet with the Explorers for a chat. In the interim, please share your thoughts.
