We operate an Integrated Supply Chain for 20 product / groups sourcing them from 65 countries. Olam employs over 18,000 people and supports more than 11,600 customers across the world. We have a strong presence in Africa. As we are starting to build a factory in Côte d`Ivoire, we are looking to recruit: GRADUATE TRAINEE COCOA CROP FORECASTING MANAGER Duty station: Accra, Ghana Reporting structure: Reporting to the Forecasting Manager of OLAM Mission: The position involves extensive field work in cocoa-producing countries for up to six months of the year, reporting to trading desks in London and Singapore. Training will lead to a management role with responsibility for local field observation teams in producing countries. The trainee will tour growing areas in origin countries on a regular basis with our experienced local personnel, building a close relationship with them and accumulating knowledge of crop physiology and production systems under the guidance of an experienced crop forecaster. As well as regular field trips, the trainee will learn to forecast production using field observations from local teams, crunching numbers on spreadsheets, running models to predict the harvest and writing regular reports on the state of the crops as they unfold. Longer term, the trainee will learn to observe different socio-economic factors and their effect on production trends as well as how weather, politics and logistics influence what farmers choose to grow and how much they get out of their farms. The trainee will spend more time getting his boots dirty than wearing a tie, but giving presentations to traders and management will also be part of his scope. Description du profil du candidat The ideal candidate would be a French and English-speaking agronomist…….but more important qualities are good numeracy, common sense, a robust constitution, willingness to spend a lot of time on the road, self-discipline, self-sufficiency, curiosity and good organizational skills.
