FOREIGN FIRM SIGNS AN MOU WITH THE COUNTY GOVERNMENT TO INCREASE FISH PRODUCTION By Kendele Limo Over 1,000 Baringo County Residents will benefit from employment after an investor injects Ksh. 22 million in a fish project at lake Baringo. Speaking when witnessing the signing of an MOU between Omega Fish Farms and Baringo County Government at his office on Wednesday, governor Benjamin Cheboi said that the project will boost the Countys food basket. Mr. Cheboi also disclosed that 750 fish ponds are available in the county to absorb the fingerlings rared by the investor at lake Baringo. The governor added that the county is making the right steps towards being the leading producer of fish in the country noting that the demand for fish is yet to be satisfied and encouraged other investors to venture into the industry. The investor Dr. Bonnie Dunban from Omega Fish Farms said fish farming is a viable venture since fish is a great source of protein. She said they will rare about 1,000,000 tilapia fingerlings in a year to increase fish population in the lake. Baringo county CEC for livestock and fisheries Hon.
