FORGIVENESS:FORGET THE DEED OR THE OFFENDER. Forgiveness requires us to forgive the offender, forget the deed, and to pray for the offender. It takes a loving heart to forgive and it takes humility to forget. There is a difference between forgetting the deed and forgetting the offender. We as Christian are advised to forget the deed and pray for the offender. In order word we are to mend fences and create doors for the offender to come back to us. For this to happen we need a real commitment to purpose. Like Jesus on the cross, he forgave those who betrayed him and prayed for them because as he put it, they did not know what they were doing. Be reminded of this when next your torn between forgiveness and justice. How can over 10 fully grown up men not know what they are doing. They lied about a man who healed the sick on their streets, who raised their dead brothers and children back to life, who loved them. They betrayed him to his face and as a result he was beaten, a crown of thong was placed on his head, he was spat on, he was stoned and he was hanged on the cross and left to die. And yet, he said they should be forgiven and he forgot about their deeds. We all have weaknesses and these leads us to sin against God and Man, and as we expect them to let go, to throw our offenses to the wind (whether we admit them or not), we should also do same. If Christ said they do not know what they are doing, it means they do not. For we do not fight against flesh but against powers and principalities of darkness. We should also be aware of picking only the words of God that suits us, of giving excuses for our wrongs and weaknesses. Finally, we should also realize that even though the ideal is to strive towards perfection we are not perfect.unlock that prison that is in your heart.
