FORGOTEN LOT, ATHLETES FROM KERICHO AND BOMET COUNTIES. Athletes from Southrifth region are the most forgotten lot. They have received very little of no support at all from their county governments. Training facilities are very poor, if at all they exist. Two major stadiums KERICHO and KAPKATET are in deplorable conditions. As dusty as Sahara desert. We just heard a rumour that our county government of Kericho allocated some funds to renovate the two staiums but nothing so far has been done.Recently i visited Kericho Green stadium, and what i observed was,it can be mistaken for a cattle auction, track field markings cannot be seen, land grabbers have encroached, grass have grown hugely same as those in grassland savannah. Not even Jubilee who promised to built ‘WEMBLEY STATIUM’ at Kapkatet have made good their promise, always in the budget, they say. Better Bomet green stadium being built but its pace is that of a snail and full of disputes, leave alone overdrafts. Other camps like Kiptere are unheard of in the circles of the county, only athletes there are aware of themselves and the camps. NOW athletes have resorted to their own means of training, SURVIVAL FOR THE FITTEST, training on their own, along rough and dusty murram roads, disturbing highways, paying their own coaches. #Suffering fora purpose #. We have international and local athletes training, having contributed immensely to the economic development in the region.if they decide to ship out,to some ‘bases’ in North rifth or Better Kisii (take note, few athletes are there but facilities are better) you county,MTAMWAGA UNGA,AS STAKE HOLDERS,we demand training facilities be provided to them with immediate effect or else they MOVE OUT!!! #Evans J-hovah #Marindany Mutai #Tom Tom Biegon
