FORMER AMBASSADOR TO CHINA TO ADDRESS SPEAKERS ASSEMBLY, Feb. 14th. Ambassador J. Stapleton Roy, director of the Kissinger Institute on China and the United States at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., will be the featured lecturer at the Speakers Assembly of Southwest Florida luncheon event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 14 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Report and Spa. Roy was born in China, where his parents were educational missionaries, and joined the U.S. Foreign Service after graduating from Princeton University in 1956. He retired in 2001 with the rank of Career Ambassador. His ambassadorial assignments included Singapore, the People’s Republic of China and Indonesia. He also served as Assistant Secretary for Intelligence and Research in the State Department. The Speakers Assembly event will begin with member networking at 11:00 a.m., and the program and lunch will begin at 11:45 a.m., followed by a 30 minute question and answer session with the speaker.
