FORTUNE MAGAZINE NOTEBOOK MENTORING PROGRAM Fortune Magazine is once again offering a wonderful opportunity for daughters of active duty service members who are in their senior or junior year of high school to participate in the Notebook Mentoring Program. Young ladies who are selected to participate will meet one-on-one with women attending Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit. The mentees will also be treated to a formal dinner. In order to be considered for participation in the program, young ladies must meet the following criteria and submit all required documentation. All applications will be submitted to the MCCDC Public Affairs Office. Please note that dependents who have previously participated in any of Fortune’s Mentoring Programs are NOT eligible. Event Specifics: • Date: October 16, 2013 (Dependents who are selected to participate will be notified no later than September 10, 2013) • Time: TBD but anticipate an early afternoon departure and a return no later than 2345 • Location: Mentoring at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Washington, DC and dinner will be held at Kogod Courtyard at The National Portrait Gallery (Transportation will be provided) Participants must meet the following criteria: • Female dependent of Active Duty Personnel in the National Capital Region • High school junior or senior during school year 2013-2014 The following paperwork must be submitted no later than September 1, 2013 in order to be considered for participation: • Mentee Biography Form (Attached) • Essay: Those applying for the program may select one of the essay topics from the list below. Essays should be 500-750 words, typed, and submitted in Times New Roman or Calabria 12- point font. • Signed Hold Harmless Agreement (Form will be provided with notification of selection) Essay Topics (Choose one): • Who is the most influential woman of the last 20 years, and what can we learn from her about making a positive impact in the world? • What do you think is the most important issue women currently face? Please discuss the issue and its impacts on women today and in the future. • What do you think is the most important attribute for a woman to succeed in business? Please fully discuss your opinions to include whether you think necessary characteristics vary between genders.
