FOUR ROOMS UPSTAIRS ON THE RIGHT She lived there (late 19th & mid 20th Centuries), unmarried, 42 years with her Mum and 25 years on her own. She kept everything from theatre tickets to ration cards, from the straw mattress (the extra for sleep-over guests) to jars of home-made jam (c.1932). The occasional lodger may have occupied the only bedroom whilst she & her mother slept in the cupboard beds. She was lower middle class as she was able to work (office) until she was 73. There was no safety net for her. And now we had the humbling privilege to be guided through her 4 rooms of life and to better understand Glasgow and the Tenement House.
