FOUR SUSPECTS SOUGHT IN SHOOTING By Jonathan Smith Triplicate staff writer A house party went awry Monday night when a 19-year-old man was shot in the leg following a scuffle outside a residence, Crescent City Police officials say. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing but the police department says it is looking for four suspects described as males in their late teens or early 20s in a white four-door sedan. The victim was taken to Sutter Coast Hospital and treated for a gunshot wound to the right leg. The injury was non-critical. Officers responded at approximately 10:50 p.m. to the scene of the party on the 700 block of J Street after receiving multiple reports of shots fired, according to a news release. Police officials say three to four suspects drove up to the house in a white, four-door sedan. A physical altercation involving a pipe held by one of the assailants ensued outside the residence. Witnesses at the scene say the suspects were wearing bandanas as masks, said Sgt. Erik Apperson of the Crescent City Police Department. Witnesses reported that one of the suspects grabbed a hand gun from the vehicle and fired multiple rounds at individuals on the sidewalk, Apperson said. The victim had been taken to the hospital by friends by the time police at the scene. The victim has been released from the hospital, police say. No other injuries were reported. Apperson said about eight to 10 people were at the scene, but he believes more witnesses may have fled before officers showed up. Apperson said it is premature to say if the incident could have any possible gang ties. He did say CCPD believes the altercation was not random. Police are asking for help in identifying the possible four suspects.
