FPR – IPSIWCH 400 PREVIEW Ford Performance Racing’s Chaz - TopicsExpress

FPR – IPSIWCH 400 PREVIEW Ford Performance Racing’s Chaz Mostert wants to repeat his efforts from last year at Queensland Raceway where he claimed his maiden V8 Supercars win and lead home a Ford 1-2-3-4. While Mostert is now a factory driver and multiple race winner he knows a big haul of points this weekend is vital if he is to close the gap to fifth place – his stated aim by year’s end. Team-mate Mark Winterbottom leads the points and finished on the podium with Mostert last year. He has seen marked improvement from the team at Ipswich in recent seasons and believes the return to soft tyres places him in a strong position to extend his points gap. David Reynolds was fourth in last year’s clean sweep and has been locked in a battle with Mostert around the cusp of the top 10 since May. Like his factory stable-mates he knows a strong performance is again possible this weekend. Jack Perkins is looking for a change of luck at a track he has enjoyed a lot of success at in the past. A double-DNF due to heavy contact last time out meant his #18 JELD-WEN Ford spent time being repaired. His chassis is now fixed and after a promising test day he is aiming for an upturn in luck and performance. DRIVERS’ VIEW Mark Winterbottom - #5 Pepsi Max FPR Ford: “We’ve had nearly a month off so it has been nice to get away from racing, recharge a little and focus on what we need to improve heading into the second half of the season. Ipswich is a tough little track to conquer as it is more complex than it appears. Also, as the home track for many of our rivals we’ve got a lot of teams that will be strong. The return of the soft tyre should help us and while we were strong at Queensland Raceway last year, we know that counts for nothing this weekend.” Chaz Mostert - #6 Pepsi Max FPR Ford: “I am looking forward to going back to Queensland Raceway as it’s my other home track and is where I took my first main game win last year. While I am heading back in a different car with a different team I still have my engineer Adam (De Borre) alongside me so hopefully we can find that demon set-up again like last year. A lot has changed set-up-wise across the last 12 months but we’ll go back to what worked last year and start developing from there. We need a good haul of points this weekend to stay in the top 10 and continue our push for a top five by year’s end.”
