****FREE ADVICE ON A BET IF ANYONE WANTS TO TAKE IT**** After three nights of picking games on here against the spread I am 2-1. Last night I took the under (7) in total runs scored in the St. Louis Cardinals/Washington Nationals game. Anthony Rendon hit a solo homer for Washington and Gio Gonzalez (3-1) struck out seven batters in seven innings, but it was the poor play by St. Louis in the seventh that got the Nationals the win. This game a lot like I wanted and expected to. Both pitchers pitched well and their was little offense to speak of, mostly just errors that scored half the runs. The Nats won 3-1. Tonight I am sticking with baseball. Give me the San Francisco Giants (-119) @ San Diego Padres. The play: San Francisco Giants -119. Here is why I like the Giants tonight. I like a lot of the pitcher/batter match-ups in this contest. Undefeated veteran Tim Hudson (2-0, 2.35 ERA) takes the hill for the Giants against Padres win-less lefty Eric Stults (0-2, 5.52 ERA). Huddy is coming off his worst start of the season against the Rockies on Sunday. He yielded a season high 4 runs in 7 1/3 innings in a no-decision. Timmy has yet to walk a batter through 3 games and 23 innings pitched. Hudson usually brings his A game to the mound with him when he laces up the cleats to play San Diego. He is 6-1 with 2.35 ERA in 12 games vs. the Pads. Stults on the other hand has struggled (to put it nicely) against the rival Giants. He sports a 5.21 ERA in 15 career starts vs. San Fran. Giants rested their All-Star catcher Buster Posey last night, so he will be well rested. Other trends I like in this match-up: Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval is 12-12 with 3 doubles and a triple career vs. Stults. Giants C Buster Posey is 7-15 with a home run vs. Stults. Giants OF Hunter Pence (6-17 off Stults) and SS Brandon Crawford have each hit a pair of homers off Stults. Injury plagued Padres 3B Chase Headley who is back from his three game absence with a biceps strain is a poor 2-16 vs. Hudson. Padres Seth Smith has not gotten a hit off Hudson in eight at-bats.
