FREE SPEECH IS GONE In the 2012 campaign I made no effort to - TopicsExpress

FREE SPEECH IS GONE In the 2012 campaign I made no effort to raise money. I am an honest man who has a genuine desire to be of service to the people of my community and my country. I naively believed word would spread and that would be sufficient. But, I banged my head against an ugly reality. The Supreme Court, with the “Citizens United” decision, nullified the First Amendment in politics. Speech is not free. It is a commodity where the highest bidder speaks his lies and the rest are silenced. Common sense tells you that people and groups that dump millions of dollars into elections are not interested in the common good; theirs is a selfish agenda. When I am elected, I will spearhead a movement to reform the political system so that good people and good ideas, not money, wins elections. We have to accomplish something that is unheard of in politics today - energize thousands of people who have never before contributed to a political campaign to put a little skin in the game. My opponent has already raised $542,800 for this campaign. Only $2,800 (0.5%) has come from regular voting citizens. He has no incentive to represent the people. Alone, we cannot give enough to win, but together we can. $5 and $10 donations add up. Ask your friends to pitch in. Organize a meet and greet. Let us know how you can help.
