Those are NOT just words. He really is love. And He loves us like crazy. Do you remember what Jesus said in John 3:16-17? “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” Yes, God IS love. And God’s love for the entire world caused Him to to give His Son away for us! BUT… Because He loves us with such intensity and furiousness, could it also be true that God HATES, as well? Check it out: 5 Therefore, the proud may not stand in your presence, for you hate all who do evil. 6 You will destroy those who tell lies. The LORD detests murderers and deceivers. THOUGHTS & QUESTIONS: —1. Today’s words from King David are strong. They are harsh. How do they make you react? —2. Let’s not sugar-coat these verses. David tells us God HATES, He DESTROYS, and He detests! Can that be true? —3. We often kind of wink at sin. Sometimes, we compromise, or do things that are convenient, and we forget how God feels about sin. We can be really good at justifying certain kinds of things. For instance, we might look at someone else’s paper at school, or we might watch a movie or TV show that we shouldnt see. We might take something that belongs to someone else, or we might “slightly” cover up the truth about something to keep from getting in trouble. Do any of these sound familiar? —4. What do these verses say about the way God feels toward those “little” compromises and sins in our lives? Yep, HATRED. —5. God loves you so much that He HATES anything that comes between you and Him. That is a really serious thought that we should wrestle with a bit. —6. If God hates and despises sin, what should my attitude be toward it? PRAYER:
