FROM EDMONTON MIKE MORRISSEAU QUARTET Mike Morrisseau - guitar Jerrold Dubyk - saxophone Josh McHan - bass Bill George - drums Edmonton guitarist Mike Morrisseau has been involved in the Edmonton music scene for several years. Mike is a graduate of the Grant MacEwan music program in guitar performance, attended St. Francis Xavier University for jazz studies, participated in the Banff Centre for the Arts International Jazz Workshop and has also studied music education at the University of Alberta. Mike also spent time in Dublin, Ireland, studying with jazz guitar legend Louis Stewart. Mikes first EP of original compositions for solo electric guitar Frozen was nominated for an Edmonton Music Award for best jazz recording in 2012. Currently Mike maintains a busy schedule teaching private studio lessons and performing with various groups around Edmonton. Mike is also the guitarist and founding member for Edmonton indie group Sister Gray. He has just released a new album of original tunes with his trio called Tree City. ALSO FROM EDMONTON JOEL GRAY/DAN DAVIS QUINTET Joel Gray – trumpet Dan Davis – saxophone Tom Van Seters – piano Josh McHan – bass Sandro Dominelli – drums JOEL GRAY has spent 25 years as a freelance trumpet player and music educator in Edmonton and its surrounding areas. Joel attended the music programs at MacEwan University and the University of Alberta, studying trumpet with William Dimmer of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and Dr. Fordyce Pier. As a music educator, Joel teaches trumpet and jazz improvisation at MacEwan University and has taught at Augustana University and Keyano College. He is an instructor at MusiCamp Alberta since 2000 and has adjudicated for the Rocky Mountain Music Festival, the Foothills Jazz Festival, the for the Kiwanis Music Festival. Since 2004, he is the director of the Edmonton All-Star Jazz Band, “The Littlebirds.” DAN DAVIS is a local saxophonist who has performance interests in classical and jazz saxophone. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in saxophone performance, from the University of Alberta. Mr. Davis has been a part of music festivals as a volunteer and performer in Saskatoon, British Columbia and Alberta. Recent performance venues include the Yardbird Suite Jazz Festival in Edmonton, the Saskatoon Jazz Festival, and Expo Latino in Calgary. Mr. Davis was recently part of the faculty at MacEwan College where he taught private lessons and the saxophone portion of MacEwan’s ‘Jumpstart’ program for young musicians.
