FRIENDS, FRIENDS, FRIENDS of FRIENDS and FRIENDS of FRIENDS . . . IN RE POLITICAL DIFFERENCES: A specific response to a specific friend which, nevertheless, could well be generalized to any response from any respondent, whomsoever . . . ________, We obviously share neither values, nor beliefs, nor systems of evaluation. So if you truly believe Obama is honorable and his presidency a success, and truly believe Bush is a war criminal, a scoundrel, and a catastrophic failure, then I am fine with that. Because of my leanings, on the other hand, I helped vote in the Bush administration. But, I dont see things as black and white (double entendre seriously not intended.) Do I feel a glow of pride that our president is black? Yes I do, actually . . . I just wish he was Ben Carson, e.g. Do I now, or did I throughout his term, consider Bush a success? ABSOLUTELY NOT! But I am not going to waste our time delineating my disappointments--a large portion of which we share. Do I think Obama is the devil? No I do not. Do I see some of his attractive qualities? Ya I do--some . . . a few. I dont support my guy just because he is my guy. Nor do I feel the need to belittle or discredit you personally because our beliefs are polar opposite. If you choose to communicate with me further, I would appreciate the same respect. And, in anticipation of the inevitable rejoinder, . . . ADMITTEDLY GUILTY AS CHARGED . . . I have Liked, Shared, Posted, and Reposted items easily characterized as biting and sardonic, that belittle or discredit (see above), which friends and friends--et cetera and so forth--have found and/or will find: hyperbolic, libelous, blatantly false, or otherwise offensive. I get it. My viscera respond in kind to emotionally-charged, potentially-provocative, points-of-view. I ask your forgiveness for those instances where its perceived that Ive crossed the line between attacking an idea, policy, or public figure to attacking the individuals who support them.
