FRIENDS!!!....Today saw Dear friend,....Dr Amulya Singh.....atop Historic GOLGHAR & was reminded of something that my Father had told me!!...Do u know that GOLGHAR is also called....GIRSTINs FOLLY???.....Actually, JOHN GIRSTIN was the arthitect & designer of the.....Imposing ROUND MONUMENT which was built as a GRANARY to store FOOD GRAINS in the wake of Severe & Sweeping DRAUGHT & FAMINE which had engulfed this part of BRITISH INDIA during 1770...1780!!.....A round structure of 29 mtrs height was built having an opening at the top to throw the grains inside.....but, by mistake, GIRSTIN, had the doors at the base,.....opening inwards, so the there was no provision of the food to be taken out!!....This little fiasco proved to be the bane for the massive structure & it could be NEVER used as a GRANARY!!!....Later on the Doors were closed & GOLGHAR became no more than a TOURIST ATTRACTION of PATNA,.....Gradually becoming the symbolic monument of PATNA!!.....Blame it on......GIRSTIN FOLLY, rechristened.....GOL GHAR!!!
