FRIENDSHIP DAY: TRANSFORM PERSONAL BOND TO SOCIETAL CAUSE I greet hundreds of friends across the countries on Friendship Day. The day reminds us to strengthen our bond. I have in touch with hundreds in social networking. Our friendship at personal level yet to be proved if we measure it by age old proverb friend in need is friend in deed. We live in a world where friendship faces the true test when we fail to stand in unity on various societal questions such ending untouchability, supporting inter-caste marriage, fight against dowry, gender discrimination, patriarchy and corruption. Face book friendship beyond the territory invites a lot of intricate questions such as terrorism, religious fundamentalism, imperialist aggression, on racial, national and linguistic identity. I call upon my friends who are in touch personally and in social media to build a a strong bond to dismantle the wall that dives the society and people in the name of caste,religion, gender, language and other narrow consideration.Let my wall be instrument of spreading understanding, brotherhood, solidarity among the working people to wage war to usher a world free from hunger, poverty,inequality, oppression and exploitation of all forms.
