FROM - Alan Hay - Nationals Candidate for the Senate Dear All, Senate - Motor Enthusiast Unity Tour The motor enthusiast community is comprised of numerous disciplines from classics to 4WDs, from street rods to motorcycles and are represented by more than 700 clubs throughout NSW. Numbering in the hundreds of thousands, enthusiasts have been segmented in structure, ignored by governments and maligned by bureaucracy and media. “Hoons may be motor enthusiasts, but the vast majority of enthusiasts are not hoons!”. In fact the community enjoys a diverse range of individuals form miners to doctors, from the very young to the very old and the financially challenged to the extremely wealthy. With their numerous events across NSW every weekend the enthusiast community raises millions for charity, brings much needed financial stimulus to the remotest regions and supports an Auto-aftermarket sector of $11bn per annum and employing 30,000 people. Our cars are an integral part of Australian Culture and as Patron of the Australian Confederation of Motor Clubs it is my privilege to ensure the future sustainability and growth of the lifestyle. Safety is a priority for our enthusiasts who seek legislation that is safe, affordable and workable to continue to enjoy their lifestyle. Through the uniting of all enthusiast disciplines we now have a substantial common voice, and a rational approach to government interaction. Unity Tour To coincide with my Coalition Senate Candidacy and as Patron of the ACMC; I will be undertaking a tour in my 66 GT Mustang Coupe throughout the electorates of NSW. The purpose is three-fold; • to promote the positive aspects of the motor enthusiast community to the greater public. • to promote the Automotive Aftermarket Industry • to introduce Politicians and Dignitaries to the Lifestyle/Passion to ensure informed decision making The tour will involve various ‘legs’ with the various clubs from all disciplines invited to participate. Media door-stops at ‘aftermarket’ premises will also be encouraged through the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Association. Businesses may also ‘advertise’ on the Mustang. The car will also be on display at a number of events. The tour will begin on Friday 19th July in Dapto with Gary ‘Angry’ Anderson, Nationals Candidate for Throsby and heading to MotorEx at Sydney Olympic Park with door-stop opportunities with Angus Taylor, Liberal Candidate for Hume & Russell Matheson MP, Liberal for Macarthur.
