FROM: DOST-PAGASA SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN No. 6 Tropical Cyclone Warning: Tropical Storm “#GorioPH” Issued at 05:00 AM, 29 June 2013 Tropical Storm “GORIO” is expected to make landfall in Eastern Samar this morning. Location of eye/center: At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “GORIO” was estimated based on all available data at 100 km East of Borongan City (11.3°N, 126.3°E). Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph. Movement: Forecast to move Northwest at 15 kph. Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “GORIO” is expected to be in the vicinity of Legaspi City by tomorrow morning. By Monday morning, it will be in the vicinity of Iba, Zambales and at 500 km Northwest of Iba, Zambales by Tuesday morning. Public Storm Warning Signal No.2 (Winds of 61-100 kph is expected in at least 24 hrs): Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate including Burias, Ticao Island, Samar Provinces, Biliran and Leyte. Public Storm Warning Signal No.1(Winds of 45-60 kph is expected within the next 36 hours): Camarines Norte, Quezon, Polillo Island, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Batangas, Laguna, Cavite, Rizal, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Aklan, Capiz, Northeastern Iloilo, Bantayan Island, Camotes Island, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Province and Siargao Island. • Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under signals #2 & #1 are alerted against possible flashfloods and landslides. Likewise, those living in coastal areas are alerted against big waves or storm surges generated by this tropical cyclone. • Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Storm. • The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM today.
