FROM: SUNDAYS OPEN Q & A Please look at John 10:9 and what does the phrase, in and out point to after salvation? Joh 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 2. From todays study, Luke 11 Is God saying He will grant the true believer anything asked EXCEPT salvation (as it is the day of judgment)in the verses of 9-10? Luk 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Luk 11:10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Also, is not asking God, having had mercy, have mercy the same as asking for salvation, as the only way for one to avoid drinking from the cup of Gods wrath is have been saved through Christ before the onset of Judgment day May 21, 2011? Can we still yet have hope for our neighbors who heard the message but show no interest in hearing about the studies (the doctrines) we have learned from Gods Word? ANSWER Im not exactly sure what going in and out is referring to. God does preserve the going in and coming out of His people for evermore. Psalm 121:7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. 8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. We also read this a little earlier in John 10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. God sometimes leads His sheep into a fold, for instance when He directed His people into the churches and congregations of the world. And He sometimes leads them out, as when He commanded His people to come out of the churches at the end of the church age. God will grant the true believers everything according to His will. He cannot grant salvation because that is no longer possible. But by praying, O Father, having had mercy (prior to May 21, 2011) have mercy (that is show forth Thy saving work in this individual I praying for if you did indeed save them) we are not praying for a present act of salvation. It is a prayer that gives hope only due to a possible past action of Gods salvation. As far as having hope for family or neighbors, I think it is best to leave their spiritual condition in Gods hands. Lets say that God did save a person on May 20th, 2011. This person previously had nothing to do with the Bible. How long do we give that person to show forth fruit of salvation? 3 months? 6 months? 1 year? 2 years? How can we know what is going on inside them? Or, how can we know exactly how God is dealing with that person? The wisest thing is for us to be thankful for the possibility of God saving that person before shutting the door of heaven; and then to leave their spiritual condition with God.
