The $1.1 Trillion spending bill recently passed by both House and Senate is an ode to reckless and irresponsible politics. Politicians voted for a bill that bails out Obama’s five million Progressive supporters and funds ObamaCare among other features not fully disclosed. This bill, its little understood content and its frantic, secret processing, is not the kind or manner of work appropriate to a Republic and its representatives. The public was not allowed to see or to comment on a bill dealing with a gigantic expenditure, covering 1,603 pages and undertaken at the 11th hour before politicians were to leave for the Christmas/New Year holidays. Congressional members did not read the bill. Yet they voted for it. Speaker John Boehner said that he read “parts of it,” and that he was “familiar with the general content.” Evidently, that was good enough for him, his “inner circle” and 45 Republicans that voted with Reid and his Progressives to push this nation farther in the direction of financial ruin and omnipotent government. We, the grassroots, during the 2014 election gave Republicans more seats in the House. We gave Republicans a majority in the Senate. We helped elect some 30 Republican governors. But Boehner and establishment Republicans ignored that effort, which was fueled by our opposition to more and greater government spending and to funding ObamaCare. Boehner and his supporters claimed the bill “had to be passed in order to avoid shutting down the government. All things considered, it would be better to shut down the government entirely rather than continue the destructiveness of politicians who willfully ignore the content of the bills they pass and the financial burdens those bills impose on their constituents. Clearly, establishment politicians regard the taxpaying electorate as more than simply “stupid.” They regard us as chattel requiring no form of representation. Members of Congress, you supported the $1.1 trillion spending bill. You should pay for it, not the taxpaying electorate. You can pay for it by immediately reducing all salaries of all members of the Legislative, Executive and Judicial branches, all Washington aides, all bureaucrats and all other government employees. You rammed through a trillion dollar spending bill. You can now ram through a reduction in spending bill. You voted for it. You pay for it.
