FROM THE COMMANDER : Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a safe and joyful holiday season. As we begin a new year its nice to reflect on some of our many achievements over the past 12 months. Although not noticeable our new Finance officer Gary Eckerson has revamped our accounting system. Working alongside Bell Jar chairman John Kulik and Budget committee chairman Bill Haddow we are now computerized and able to receive reports in a timely manner. Further system upgrades include writing this newsletter as Evan Pearl has taken over as our new publisher/editor. Greg Czerniak and Glen Reed moved mountains in order for our new outdoor sign to become a reality and if you have any suggestions please let us know. Recently DJ enhanced the border around our bulletin board by tastefully painting red, white and blue stripes around the edges. This looks great and blends in beautifully with the valances provided by our auxiliary. Speaking of our auxiliary I can’t thank them enough for the delicious meals they provide at general membership meetings. The free meal alone should be enough enticement for legionnaires to attend once a month. On the subject of cooking I hope everyone has noticed the roof the S.A.L. has built over the barbeque pit. They do a great job with their cookouts and I look forward to their next event. Plans for the coming year include gradually replacing stools, surveillance cameras, and monthly entertainment.
