FROM THE DESK OF FATHER PETER My Friends: Let me begin by extending a wish for a Joyous Mothers Day to ALL OF THE WOMEN of our parish, who although some may not be biological moms, have the gift of nurturing and giving life to the children they love in all of their lives! Happy Mothers Day to all Grandmothers, Mothers, Godmothers, Aunts, etc.... As well, we remember all those who have gone to their rest with Almighty God in heaven and continue to remain in our hearts and pray for us from the Kingdom of Heaven! We have much to continue celebrating, as we move forward on the journey as a Family of Faith. Last week we had 35 children celebrate First Holy Communion and this week we congratulate our 22 teens celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation! We welcome once again, Bishop John Flesey to celebrate the conferral of the Sacrament. God bless them all...... Congratulations to Tony Rivera, our esteemed and faithful guitarist, who plays every Sunday for us. He received his Third Degree as a Knight of Columbus and Johnny Latona, a chorister and CCD instructor, who received his first degree this past week. These are two more fine examples of my men of faith in action under the protection of our Blessed Mother. I need to address the fact that now as Religious Education classes - which is designated - CLASS TO MASS and Mass is the most important component - is formally ended as far as class instruction, THE MASS NEVER ENDS NOR DOES OUR OBLIGATION TO COME AND WORSHIP GOD ON THIS ONE SPECIAL DAY OF THE WEEK. Dear Parents - I encourage you once again to please bring your children to Mass each week. You made the promise at your childs Baptism and I can only invite and encourage you to this REALITY. My deepest gratitude to Rose Todaro and ALL OF THE CATECHISTS AND VOLUNTEERS, WHO COME EVERY SUNDAY TO INSTRUCT THE CHILDREN. God bless you all for your continued Stewardship to the children. Ti amo! Next Sunday is our Knights of Columbus Annual Breakfast at approximately 10:00am in the gym. We are hosting the BLUE MASS FOR ALL OF OUR GARFIELD POLICE OFFICERS. They are our guests. Mass will be celebrated at 8:00am with the Officers present. They will then go to the monument in town for a brief service and return here for breakfast. I hope that as many men as possible will come and join us at Mass and the breakfast to follow. TICKETS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE LOBBY AFTER ALL MASSES. It is a free will offering WITH YOUR TICKET AT THE DOORS THAT MORNING. Christ is Risen - Alleluia! Alleluia!!! Loving you always, Fr. Peter
