FROM THE NEWSROOM: A Brooklyn man accused of drug-related crimes appeared in Danielson superior Court today; although he was subsequently taken from the courthouse due to medical reasons, as confirmed by his public defender. The presiding judge found probable cause for 36-year-old Jason Latour for possession of narcotics and two counts of possession of narcotics within 1,500 feet of a school zone; however, probable cause for intent to sell was not found. Latour is being held on a $50,000 cash/surety bond, and has a next court date set for August 11th. As reported, Latour was arrested after multiple police agencies served a narcotics-related search and seizure warrant at his Elm Street residence Thursday night. Members of the Troop D Quality of Life Task Force, the Statewide Narcotics East Office, and Brooklyn and Killingly Resident State Troopers executed a search warrant after an investigation revealed that Latour was allegedly selling heroin from his residence. Police say Latour attempted to escape via an exterior basement door, but was apprehended by State Troopers that were guarding the perimeter of the apartment complex. Authorities said they located heroin pre-packaged for sale, packaging materials, a cell phone and a narcotics concealment container at the residence and seized them as evidence.
