FROM THE NEWSROOM: A referendum vote will be held in Sterling today, the second on the general government and capital improvement spending plans for the current fiscal year. Residents earlier passed the $7.9 million education budget, but the numbers for the general government budget and local capital improvement plan have been reduced and then reintroduced, as officials look to pass the budget. The Selectmen, for the second time, put forward a flat budget of $2.7 million. The local capital improvement plan is proposed at $250,850. The budget poses no increase to the towns mil rate. The budget vote will be held from noon until 8 p.m. at the Sterling Town Hall.
