FROM THE NEWSROOM: After extensive interviews with four candidates for the Sterling School Districts Superintendent position, the Board of Education announced that Brenda Needham has been appointed to the position. The School Board said that it was confident that Needhams varied experience, and many years working in small to mid-sized school districts “will serve her well as she leads our small school district into the future.” Needham specializes in small school systems, having held Superintendent positions in New Hampshire, Vermont, and East Granby, Connecticut. Her tenure in Vermont led her to be named Superintendent of the Year in 2008. She has also held positions in private schools, developmental centers for special needs children, as well as having served on the Board of Directors for the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendents and the New England School Development Council. Ms. Needham is impressed with Sterling and believes the environment of the community as well as the school is well-suited for her and believes it will be a fulfilling experience to her as a professional, as well as it being rewarding on a more personal level. She will assume her leadership role in the Sterling School District in late August. Tune in for the full report.
