FROM THE NEWSROOM: An abstract sculpture will be created by local artist Deb Aldo to help beautify the Main Street area of Danielson, according to Killingly Economic Development Coordinator Elsie Bisset. Bisset confirmed while the screetscape construction and electrical work continues in that area, a short line will be installed so the mosaic sculpture can be interiorly lit. The artwork will be paid for by $2,000 in Arts Catalyze Placemaking (ACP) Arts Leadership Funding from the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD); the grant, written by Bisset and Aldo, and to be administered by Community Development Administrator Mary Bromm, also has a matching component. Bisset confirmed the Killingly Business Association will match it for $750, and the town can give in-kind services of a $250 value; the Town Council recently voted to allow Town Manager Sean Hendricks to execute the contract.
