FROM THE NEWSROOM: As reported, Brooklyn officials are considering seeking more than $40,000 in damages from Silver, Petrucelli & Associates, Inc. related to what officials say are numerous design deficiencies and other problems with the architectural and engineering services for improvements to the Brooklyn Middle School gymnasium. The Brooklyn Middle School Wall Committee discussed a letter that was received Tuesday from the state regarding reimbursement for the near $2 million gymnasium project that is nearing completion. Also discussed at yesterdays meeting was the issue regarding nearly $41,000 in damages from Silver & Petrucelli, but chairman of the committee Austin Tanner says that with this new correspondence from the state, that topic – while still being discussed – is not the primary concern. Tanner calls it “a work in progress,” and says that once the specifics with the state reimbursement are squared away, the committee will talk about the concerns regarding Silver & Petrucelli, and whether or not the town will still pursue them for damages. The project, which stemmed from a moisture issue that caused the 50 year old gymnasium floor to buckle, among other structural damage, is nearly complete, says Tanner, barring some finishing touches. Tune in for the full report.
