FROM THE NEWSROOM: At last nights special Board of Selectman meeting in Brooklyn, officials sent forward a proposal to invest in two shares of Putnams Quinebaug Regional Technology Park to a public vote. Several Putnam officials were present at the meeting, where the Brooklyn board asked them various questions regarding the current draft of the contract. The inquiries posed to the visiting officials were centered on language in the the contract outlining items such as insurance, payment and a hold-harmless agreement. First Selectman Rick Ives made a point to mention that, while he was satisfied with the answers that were given, that wasnt the case for the entire board, and the vote to bring this matter to a town meeting with the boards recommendation that it pass was not unanimous. Ives hopes that because the upcoming meeting will include a deciding vote on the subject, a more spirited and informed discussion can take place. The town meeting will be held on Oct. 9, and is tentatively scheduled to take place at the middle school. Tune in for the full report.
