FROM THE NEWSROOM: Bailey Hill Road in Killingly remains - TopicsExpress

FROM THE NEWSROOM: Bailey Hill Road in Killingly remains temporarily closed between Bear Hill Rd and Slater Hill Rd because of a sink hole, according to Town Engineer David Capacchione. Capacchione said town officials believe the sink hole is related to the spillway that flows under the road and through the old mill property on Bailey Hill Road, across the street from the nearby dam. Tuesday morning, a meeting was held between town officials, the mill owner, the dam owner, and Dam Safety representatives from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection to identify how the problem arose and who is responsible for repairing the sink hole. However, town officials are now awaiting information from the mill and dam owners about who has control over releasing water, and therefore should be held liable. What is fairly certain, however, is that this sink hole was related to the recent rainy weather, Capacchione said. He said it remains unclear how long the road will remain closed. Tune in for the full report.
