FROM THE NEWSROOM: NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) — A Norwalk man who says he shot his wife to death by accident in Norwich four years ago has gone on trial on murder and manslaughter charges. A New London Superior Court jury began hearing evidence Wednesday in the trial of 50-year-old Chihan Eric Chyung, including Chyungs 911 call to Norwich police in June 2009 right after his wife of three weeks, Paige Anne Bennett, was shot. Jurors heard Chyung tell a dispatcher, I killed my wife. I killed her. I didnt mean to. Shes dead. Chyung says he and Bennett got into an argument over a fishing pole he bought and he was packing his 9 mm pistol into a suitcase while leaving their home when it went off by accident. The trial is set to resume Thursday.
