FROM THE NEWSROOM: Representatives from Thompson Boards and Commissions met with the Town Planner recently to solidify a specific process that will be used to determine any future land acquisitions or donations. When landowners decide to relinquish property to a town, the land donation proposal must be reviewed by several entities before being passed to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Board of Selectmen and the Town Planner, as well as the Conservation, Inland Wetlands, and Parks and Recreation Commissions are required to give their recommendations to Planning and Zoning. Upon concluding that an improved process for evaluation was needed, Thompson officials met and formulated a system that will provide for more inter-organizational cooperation and transparency of action.
