FROM THE NEWSROOM: STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — About 25 million gallons of partly treated sewage has spilled into Stamford Harbor following heavy rains Wednesday night. The Wastewater Pollution Control Authority reported that the non-disinfected sewage spilled into the harbor starting at 10 p.m. Wednesday. The flow of sewage was not expected to stop until Thursday afternoon as the weather improves. The Advocate of Stamford reports that Carl Bochterie, a dockmaster, says that in some places brown sludge was floating two inches above the water.
