FROM THE NEWSROOM: The Democratic candidate for the 44th District State Representatives seat will face competition ahead of the November election from a member of her own party. According to documents filed with the State Elections Enforcement Commission, Moosup resident Michael Cartier, a lawyer, retired Navy JAG, and law educator at the college level, will seek Mae Flexers position, as she pursues a Senate seat. Cartier, President Elect of the New London Bar Association, says he is running for the State Representatives seat in Plainfield and Killingly, with the support of the Plainfield Democratic Town Committee. “I want to do something about jobs, transportation and veterans benefits,” Cartier told WINY. “As a Navy JAG, I have seen service members who need a voice, and I want to be that voice – not only for them, but for everyone in the district.” Democrat Christine Rosati and Republican Killingly Town Councilor Jonathan Cesolini earlier announced their candidacies for the 44th District State Representative seat. Tune in for the full report.
