FROM THE NEWSROOM: The goals in Governor Dannel Malloys State of the State Address this afternoon focused almost entirely on efforts to improve transportation and road infrastructure from border to border. Malloy called today for a state “with the safest highways, railways, buses, bicycle and pedestrian systems in New England; a state with three vibrant, deep-water ports exporting more and more goods made right here in Connecticut; a state with an international airport that serves as a hub for transportation across America and around the globe; a state whose bus and rail systems interconnect all of Connecticut, linking us to cities up and down the east coast; and a state that is crisscrossed by bicycle and pedestrian trails that make our communities more sustainable, our towns more walkable, and our cities more livable.” Returning Democratic State Rep. Danny Rovero tells WINY immediately following the Governors speech that although he is unsure how a transportation lock box that will ensure all funds raised for transportation on spent on transportation can be accomplished without a resolution passed from charter revision, its one of Malloys ideas he supports 100%. WINY will bring you more reactions from state lawmakers as soon as possible.
