FROM THE NEWSROOM: WOLCOTT, Conn. (AP) — A roaming dog in Wolcott led police to a home where they seized 50 pounds of marijuana. The Republican American newspaper reports Plymouth Police Officer Cesar Beiros, who also serves as an assistant animal control officer in Wolcott, was going after the dog Monday when he noticed some marijuana plants on the back porch of a home on Cancellaro Drive. Officers obtained a warrant and say they found a basement that had been converted into a drug factory with lamps, timers, an incubator for seedlings and racks of marijuana plants. The homeowner, 32-year-old Sabrina Tomaszewski and her 33-year-old boyfriend, Mark Alberto Jr., face numerous drug charges. Both were freed after posting bond. A phone listed for Tomaszewski had been disconnected Thursday.
