FROM THE PASTORS DESK: THE SCROLL! Had a dream last night...I dreamed of a scroll. REVELATION 5:1-14 I remember when I got my first car….and yes there were cars in the 60’s (SHUP DAVID)….Dad said come on and go with me, I think I found you a car. WOW..a 1953 Ford coup with a v8 flathead engine. It was light green with a cream top. I watched as my dad pulled out $75.00 CASH and laid it on this guy…no wonder I got it, that guy just could not turn down the big bucks. Well, for a 16 year old this was a dream come true. He handed me a little piece of metal called a KEY. Suddenly I had authority I never had before. At any time I could step out of the house, unlock the car, and drive away. (If dad said I could) That is a very very small picture of what we see today in my message here in Revelation chapter 5. My car in the driveway couldn’t go anywhere on its own until someone with the key stepped in and started it up. On a much larger and more important scale - the destiny of our world has been headed in one direction since the fall of Adam. And unless someone steps up with the key - or the title deed - nothing will change. You hear me NOTHING WILL CHANGE. NO ITS NOT GOING TO GET BETTER IN THIS LIFE, YES THERE WILL ALWAYS BE JAILS/PRISONS, HOSPITALS, FUNERALS, BAD PEOPLE BEING USED OF SATAN, BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE. WE ARE STILL UNDER THE CURSE OF SIN. Oh but there will be a change once this world as we know it has ran its course. But not anyone can just claim the right to own creation. In fact, only one Person can ever claim that - and this transaction, and the unfolding of the rest of the book - is seen in this vision while John is in heaven – In chapter 4 we see John leave the earth and the 7 churches to HEAVEN After this…the church age…(we now live in the church age my friend but it too will soon end) I looked and behold a door was open in Heaven and loud voice says…come up here! Once in Heaven John saw some Heavenly things: Remember as you read Gods word, as you read, you will find yourself in one of 3 places...heaven, earth, hell. In Chapter 5 John saw someone seated upon the throne: 1And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. Back then most books were not like we think of - something called a codex, with binding and pages. A scroll could be up to 30 feet long and was written on velum or papyrus. They were rolled up and sealed with wax or clay. Even to this day the Jews carry around scrolls of the Torah. What is this scroll? It contains the rest of the book of the Revelation - and thus the future of mankind and planet earth - and in a real way - it is the title deed for the planet - a deed we signed over to Lucifer in the Garden of Eden. YES, when man disobeyed Gods rule of the garden and YES we are still paying for that sin. The seals kept the document secret and with their breaking terrible things happen as God judges the earth for sin. It is sort of like going through escrow as the deed is transferred back to the one who bought it. The scroll could be reference to Daniel 12. Daniel wants to know what will happen at the end - but the angel tells him: Daniel 12:8-9 He said, Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end. Now that time has come. But not just anyone can take possession of this scroll. 2And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 3And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. 4And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. To open the scroll you would have to possess the signet ring that sealed it. They would melt little blobs of wax, drip it on the edge of the scroll then push the signet ring into the wax. John weeps because without the opening of this scroll - evil will continue to dominate planet earth. Whoever can legitimately open this scroll will have authority over all creation - its importance cannot be understated. Yet notice that no one - not in heaven (angelic beings), nor on earth (anyone alive) or under the earth (anyone who has ever lived) has that authority. This rules out every other religious leader or prophet. I think part of the purpose of John experiencing such sorrow is that humans without a savior are merely pawns in Satan’s hands. We should all weep when there is no champion for us! 5And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. Obviously what’s coming is the Lord Jesus Christ. Boaz was the only one who could claim Naomis land back because to do so, it had to be relation, willing, and able to do so. The only one who can purchase our redemption back from sin, had to be kin to God, willing, and able. His name IS Jesus...thank you Lord for making it possible for me and millions of others to live in a new world, a new land, re-establishing our relationship with YOU...our creator. If you are saved by the blood of Jesus, you get to go to that land, if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior, you die lost forever in a broken relationship with HIM.>>>PT
